Hi! I've got the new Arducam installed on my Mini, and I'm taking/uploading/downloading photos just fine. But I can't ever be happy with what I've got, so it is time to start tinkering some more.
On the scan page, there are some additional controls next to the preview image. I've figured out what the MF switch does (Manual Focus, I think). Is there a guide somewhere to explain how to use the other controls? Preferably, one written for someone new to photography/photogrammetry?
I think I'm doing okay getting the images processed, but I'm running into a couple of hassles.
The smallest number of photo sets the UI will generate is 10. That means that I have to go into the downloaded set of photos and select the specific shots to combine into a focus-stacked image. If the UI will allow for a single shot, then the resulting folder could be selected instead, and that would save some time.
The other issue is related: is there any way to fix the camera's orientation? Multiple angles for focus stacking is only useful if you're willing to do the work of separating the files out yourself. Locking the orientation before image acquisition would make it easier to name the project according to the object's orientation (to help track the angles that will eventually be fed into the photogrammetry process), and would also allow for manually setting more focal lengths if that would help the focus stack.
I'm new at this, so please let me know if I'm misunderstanding any of the concepts here.
Ok, some experimenting makes me think that the 'St' switch enables focus stacking. Then you use the slider to select the number of photos to stack, the plus and minus to adjust the focal length, and the 'Set' button to select the near and far ends of the stack.
What's the next step? Does the Cloud just know how to handle the stacks? Should I try to figure out how to combine the images first?
